• Does Oddball contain peanuts or is it made in a facility that processes peanuts?

Oddball is produced in a dedicated nut-free facility, ensuring complete freedom from peanuts and tree nuts.

• What gelling agents do we use?

Agar: a plant-based geling agent derived from red algea. Although agar has been used for centuries in Asian cooking (it was discovered in Japan in 17th century), in the U.S. it is often used as a vegan substitute for gelatin and can be found in health food or Asian specialty stores. Agar is the key ingredient to our favorite Southeast Asian dessert, and the original inspiration for Oddball – Mango Coconut agar-agar! In Japan, it is also part of a natural weight loss plan known as the “Kanten Diet” – which entails adding a teaspoon of agar to tea or hot water and drinking before meals. It is known to help stabilize blood sugar and block storage of fat – part of a diet that many Japanese women swear by!

Locust bean gum: extracted from the seeds of the carob tree, a lush umbrella shaped tree native to the Mediterranean. This natural thickener contains fiber, protein, calcium, and is a natural way to used to provide structure and stability to Oddballs.

Gellan gum: another plant-based alternative to gelatin – it grows naturally on water lilies and is a popular replacement for gelatin.

• How are the juice concentrates we use different from juice concentrates that we grew up with?

Juice concentrates come in many different forms. Our juice concentrates are made of real fruits only, without any added sugar, syrup, chemicals or preservatives to them. Many of the juice concentrates we remember from our childhood have added high fructose corn syrup, preservatives and all the ingredients we disagree with.

• There are no preservatives, will the product change?

We don’t add preservatives or chemicals to preserve colors. If you notice the jellies are not as bright, it is just the natural process of food overtime and it doesn’t mean they are spoiled or expired, it just means we allow natural colors and flavors to shine rather than covering them.

What is Oddball™? What is it about?

Oddball™ is a jiggly snack made of real fruit and agar. We’re all-natural, plant-based, and under 100 calories. We Break the Mold™ in everything we do.

What is the difference between Jell-O and Oddball™?

Everything :) other than similarities in texture. Jell-O is made of 90% sugar, gelatin and weird chemicals and dyes like disodium phosphate. Oddball™ is made of two all-natural ingredients only: fresh fruit and agar. No added sugars, chemicals, or dyes!

Why is it more expensive?

We are committed to changing our eating culture away from chemicals to whole-foods. Chemicals are cheap in the short-term (at the expense of our health) and whole foods are more expensive. We are a start-up trying to reach scale! The more we scale, the cheaper we can be.

We are committed to democratizing access to healthy foods and will continue to price adjust downwards as we scale.

What does chef-crafted mean?

Each Oddball™ was crafted and developed by our in-house chef, Shawn Burnette. Shawn is an acclaimed soil-to-table chef who has worked at multiple Michelin-star restaurants across the country. Our product reflects his beliefs in food systems, sustainability and nutrition.

Oddball™ tastes best when chilled. However, it is shelf stable and does not need to be refrigerated. Look to your packaging for your Oddball’s expiration date.

What is agar?

Agar is a plant-based geling agent sourced from red marine algae. It was discovered and invented in Japan in the late 17th century and has since became an Integral part of Asian cuisine. Increasingly, it is being recognized as a superfood due to its proven health benefits: agar is 80% soluable fiber and contains important nutrients such as mineral, zinc, potassium etc.

Agar is known to support digestive and gut health given it is 80% soluble fiber, and acts as a natural fat blocker as it absorbs glucose in your stomach.

Also helps dissolve cholesterols by calming liver and absorbing bile

What does agar taste like?

Agar is odorless, tasteless, and flavorless. It’s just the stuff that keeps your Oddball bouncy and jiggly!

Why are the textures different?

Different fruits have different textures! We are fans of fruits just the way they are and don’t believe in adding more ingredients or chemicals to make them all the same.

What are phytonutrients?

Phytonutrients are naturally occurring compounds produced by plants. Phytonutrients have strong antioxidant properties- although they can be found in supplement forms, they are best absorbed and consumed through natural foods such as fruits and vegetables.

Is Oddball™ sweetened?

Our flavors have no sugar added other than the natural fructose the fruit contains!
